Natasha Suturina

My story started even before I was born. When my mother got pregnant with me, she wanted to make an abortion, because she was forty, my father was forty-six. They had two grown up children and decided that they do not need me. Right before her visit to the doctor, my mother had the dream – child carrying the loaf of bread. Being pragmatic person, she decided that I am that child who will give her bread at her old age. That is why I was born.

Real life was different – I became drug addict when I was young and that brought distress, disgrace and constant problems to the family. These problems lead my mother to accept Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord. She received the bread from above and this bead came by the way of trials and hardships.

She was baptized and later died. That time I was 21 years old.

My mother was praying for me until the last breath, but that did not change my life and one year after my mother’s death, I was imprisoned.

When mom was still alive, I heard the Gospel from her many times. I visited the church gatherings but did not understand much. Drugs affected my brain and I lived in constant “fog” in my mind. Nothing could go through that “fog”.

After my prison term was over, I was in the train going home. There the woman and young man shared the Gospel with me again. That time I understood the truth, it stroke me straight in the heart and I silently told God: “God, if you exist, if You are like my mother told me, like this woman tells me – then what is my lot? Am I doomed to drugs and prison till the end of my life?”

When I arrived to my hometown, nor I went to the man I lived with, neither to the brothel, but went to the suburb. Why? What was I looking for that cold dark early March evening at the desolate edge of the town? There was light in windows of one of the houses. That was the House of Prayer, which my mother attended.

When I entered, the girl ran to me exclaiming - “Natasha, we were waiting for you for so long!”

Later we found out there was a Christian conference and one of participants had to arrive later. They thought it was I.

I told those people who I am and they allowed me to spend the night there.

I understood that God answered my question, which I asked Him when on the train. That became the time of my repentance. I understood that Calvary and the Crucified Son of God – all that was FOR ME.

In the morning, I passed through the room with photos on the walls. That was visual church history wall. Many photos and when I looked again I saw my mother’s eyes – on the photo of her baptism. She was in a white clothes and she was smiling.

That time I decided to go through the rehabilitation program.

After the course of rehabilitation I joined the church, have been baptized, and now I serve in the Makarov Christian church.

This story is the story of my way to God.

In addition, I have a job and sufficient income.

I praise God Who answers those who is weary of sin and are ready to change their life.
